Non-Planar Layer

Suggestion Summary

The ability lay let layers follow a curvature in z-axis.
Hackaday - non-planar-layer-fdm

Why is this useful?

This is a great way of actually creating prints with critical curvature in z - like a model of a wing fx.

  • Do other slicers do this?:
No other slicers does this, a single post-processor might.
Slic3r has implemented a different solution to the problem by implementing variable layerheight.

I do like that idea and see how handy that might come to be!

I’ll pop it in as a feature suggestion, but I have no idea how hard this will be to accomplish, and won’t be 100% sure this can be implement, but it will certainly be nice if it could!

Thanks for the feedback and do let us know if you have any other suggestions or feedback!

Just saw this on the Duet forums:

I was about to ask the same question🤣

I think this would be a unique feature to set pathio apart from every other available slicer.

That’s a pretty cool feature/development. I can see the mechanical properties would be improved too. +1 for the suggestion.
